It’s no secret how fond I am of Popbasic and all the things they produce, but just in case you’re new here, let me give you a quick run down of what Popbasic is. Popbasic is a company with a fashion focus – that focus being producing timeless, quality, stylish closet essentials at an affordable price.  Ever month Popbasic releases a ‘micro-collection’.  A collection of three items so versatile, so vital and so very very cute that EVERYONE should have them in their respective closets.  By offering such collections monthly, Popbasic have created a fun and affordable way to build up your wardrobe staples. So, now that you’re versed on the cause – look at this collection!  The Wanderlust collection dropped today and I have to say – IT’S MY FAVORITE ONE SO FAR.  I’ve always said that a striped tee takes the “tee and jeans” look from casual to classy :READ MORE:

A good tee conquers all

wearemakers : July 3, 2014 6:53 pm : Ready Made, Style
labor-zoomAs you may or may not know, my husband is an artist and screen printer.  He runs a small print shop out of a workshop in the backyard and produces wonderfully, high quality work and I benefit from a never ending supply of cool t-shirts.  This month, he’s released this ‘Labor Conquers All’ design, available for pre-order from his store. This is a sentiment that we both strongly agree with and carry as our personal motivation.  Working from home, for yourself, is no picnic, but there’s always solace in the fact that hard work and good motives generally pay off.  Day by day, we see improvements in our own work and opportunities opening, so I’d say it’s a pretty great verse to live by. All that aside, the t-shirts are baby-soft and this is a badass design.  Get the best on your chest NOW!  Again, if you’d like to own this great :READ MORE:

Maker’s Monday…kinda

wearemakers : July 1, 2014 1:36 am : Maker's Monday, Style
ramonaHey y’all.  You may notice that this is coming to you a little later in the day than usual.  Today we decided to bring you something a little different – partly because of the fact that none of the interviews from our queued up Makers are quite ready to go but mostly because I wanted to get my husband in on a post and we BOTH have some major crushes on some magnificent makers and we just can’t keep it in any longer.  So here you go! Clint’s Crushes (Dave Massman/Ramona Press/Scott Dye) These three makers use different mediums for different purposes, but they are all driven by the desire to make a quality product with their hands. Detail, precision, and care can be found throughout their work, and that’s one of those things that inspire me, and motivate me to get away from a glowing screen and make something I :READ MORE:

Sneaky Peeky

wearemakers : June 26, 2014 5:58 pm : Style
IMG_3827Okay, so you know how Clint had an art show?  I wore a fantastic kimono cape that I made out of some Poly-Cotton reject I got on sale at Walmart.  It was a nice surprise how well the fabric suited this project and I got a lot of comments about how great it was, not to mention I LOVE KIMONOS.  I have for years.  I’m not always the biggest fan of showing of my guns (yes, I am riddled with mom-arm insecurities), but on a hot day it doesn’t seem like one has much choice.  THEN THERE WAS KIMONO.  In a lightweight fabric, these kimono capes have the ability to add style and flare (and modesty) to pretty much any outfit with the added bonus of not being at all heavy enough to cause a sweaty betty situation. I bet you’re wondering why I’m rambling on about kimono capes.  Well, we :READ MORE:

Father’s Day Picks

wearemakers : June 5, 2014 9:28 pm : Style
FdayHere’s the thing: I LOVE buying gifts for people.  People I really know, of course, because it’s an opportunity to say “Hey, look how well I know and love you.  I got you this and even though you never told me you wanted it, even though you didn’t even KNOW you wanted it till this moment, I DID.” Certainly, that statement is a little presumptuous, but I kinda just cross my fingers and hope that my loves like their gifts as much as I do.  Lucky for me, Father’s Day is JUST AROUND THE CORNER!  Another reason to gift shop, hooray!  I’ve been trawling the internet far and wide looking for the perfect gift that says “You mean the world to us” without saying “LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME”.  We have a pretty simple guy, he likes what he likes unapologetically and it’s usually the little things that make him :READ MORE:

Maker’s Monday!

wearemakers : May 26, 2014 9:33 pm : DIY, Maker's Monday, Style
PalomaHappy Memorial Day everyone!  How lovely is it to have a long weekend, best spent with family, food and beautiful weather!  I’ve loved every minute of it and to top it off, I get to present you with a Maker that I have been excited about for, like, ever. Popbasic is a company I have supported since their first ‘Micro Collection’.  I found them through a friend and was hooked on the concept immediately, not to mention the fact that their CEO is an Australian transplant, just like me!  Popbasic’s mission is to fill your closet with high quality staples – the things that you don’t necessarily buy at the mall (because we all get distracted by trend pieces, lets face it) – but the items that you WISH you had as you stare blankly into your closet, trying to make an outfit out of all these now-dorky trends.  I feel :READ MORE:

Shoe Crushin’

wearemakers : March 6, 2014 9:38 pm : Style
Shoe CrushWe’re all guilty of harboring infatuations with material things.  With spring well on the way and my wardrobe being very limited due to moving to a completely different continent, I have been mentally shortlisting candidates for my Spring/Summer purchases.  Of course, there is fantasy and reality.  Some purchases might me attainable, while others will stay exactly where they are – on the wish list. In saying that, here are a few of my foot-finds that I just cannot get out of my brain.  AREN’T THEY JUST SO GOOD LOOKING?! 1.  Lucky Brand Abbee D’orsay Flat in Black/Natural – $59.00 USD A seriously cute and comfortable flat.  I love the print that makes it pop, but it’s still neutral enough to be teamed with just about anything! 2.  Marias USA Beatle Boot in Onyx – $218.00 USD Okay, so these are my favorite find.  They are just the coolest looking boots I’ve :READ MORE:

Wishing, always wishing

wearemakers : February 10, 2014 2:33 am : Style
wishlist 1So lately I’ve been having to go to a lot of places (in the small town America sense…so, like, three) to create different registries for our wedding shower.  We’re being super progressive and holding it after we’re married, so you could maybe even call it a house warming party or something.  Either way, I’m excited. In the midst of all the home wares browsing, list making and feeling pressured to put a ton of crystal serving ware on our registry (we’re not that kinda couple), I have made a list of things that, if I weren’t being frugal and living on a shoestring, I would nab ASAP.  Of course, some things are totally affordable enough to purchase right now and trust me, the dough whisk and bread recipe book are at the top of my amazon cart, but I decided to include some of those ‘so pretty it hurts because it :READ MORE:
